Geekoterre Trailblazers Club and YouMe Support Foundation recognise the special privacy protection needs of children, that they may use the Internet in safety and freedom, particularly for children under the age of 13 years.

In accordance with this Privacy Policy we are fully committed to providing a website where children can learn through fun, while enjoying a totally safe environment. Any personal information collected by any Geekoterre site/s and YouMe Support Foundation is fully safeguarded.

Our Privacy Policy informs you of our information practices, including how personal information is collected, used and disclosed. All staff and members of any Geekoterre site/s and YouMe Support Foundation guarantee to abide by this Privacy Policy at all times.

  1. Type of Information Collected

    Any child wishing to become a Geekoterre Trailblazer, must create a name that does not reflect any information of their real name. They must also create a password known only to themselves and their parent/guardian.

    Membership to any Geekoterre website/s is not conditioned on the child giving out more Personal Information than is reasonably necessary for that activity. Entry to the Geekoterre Trailblazers Club and all its activities, is password protected.

    We will request a valid email address when a parent/guardian, submits a validation page for entry to the Geekoterre Trailblazers Club website, so that we may respond to the inquiry. This email address will be used for the sole purpose of responding directly on a one-time basis to any specific inquiry, or to notify the parent/guardian of any particular issue involving the Trailblazer.

    We encourage Trailblazer’s participation in Geekoterre activities, plus give him/her the ability to post comments, items of interest, participate and vote in monthly competitions online through our website. We ensure that users cannot communicate Personal Information through this chat function.

    We offer blogs or other Public Forums, as well as other features, in which members may provide us with Submissions, as defined in the Terms of Use governing the website, but we take measures, including live moderation, so that users cannot communicate personal information through these Public Forums.

    We are however, not responsible for the Personally Identifiable information a member may choose to submit through these functions, though we will endeavour to ensure this is kept at an absolute minimum.

    When visitors come to our site, we may passively collect certain non-personally identifiable computer information, such as the type of computer operating system (e.g., Windows, Apple, or Mac OS), the user’s IP Address, the web browser (e.g., Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome) being used, the frequency with which guests visit various parts of our sites and information regarding the Internet service provider, in order to make our site more interesting and useful to you and for various purposes related to our product. We, or one of our contractors on our behalf, may collect this non-personally identifiable information through the use of software technologies such as unique identifiers, or cookies.

    We collect financial information as set out in Section 5 of this Privacy Policy. We do not use this financial information for any purpose other than processing payments to the Geekoterre Trailblazers Club. The financial information that is entered to purchase a membership is not stored by the Geekoterre Trailblazers Club, or any Geekoterre site/s, but is retained by our payments processing vendor, for the sole purpose of processing credit card payments to the Geekoterre Trailblazers Club, or YouMe Support Foundation.

    If the necessary Personal Information is not provided to us, then the Geekoterre Trailblazers Club, or YouMe Support Foundation may not agree to the Geekoterre Trailblazers Club membership and may not be able to provide access to certain content and functionality on the Geekoterre Trailblazers Club website, or to provide other information, products or services which may be requested.

  2. How We Disclose, Use and Store the Information We Collect

    In addition to the purposes described in Section 1, we may actively collect and use email addresses and user names to track usage and to ensure members are following the site’s Terms of Use. We may use an email address and user name to notify a member/parent/guardian of a temporary, or permanent ban from the Geekoterre Trailblazers Club website, if that member engages in inappropriate conduct on the site.

    We may also use email addresses and user names to verify any Personal Identification that has submitted to the Geekoterre Trailblazers Club, any Geekoterre website/s when applying for membership and to provide notification regarding the site, such as any amendments to this Privacy Policy.

    To the extent permitted by applicable law, we may also disclose PI in response to a law enforcement agency or other public agencies (including schools, or children services) request, or if we feel that such disclosure may prevent the instigation of a crime, facilitate an investigation related to public safety, or for the protection and safety of a child using our website, protect the security or integrity of our website, or enable us to take precautions against liability.

    We may disclose information where we are required to do so by law, e.g. in response to a court order or a subpoena, or where we disclose information to service providers, or other group companies who provide support for the operation of our website and who do not use or disclose the information for any other purpose.

    If we sell all or part of our business, or make a sale, or transfer our assets, or are otherwise involved in a merger, or business transfer, we may transfer PI to a third party as part of that transaction, to the extent permitted by applicable law. Members will be notified prior to any such action.

  3. Collection of Information for Third Party Sites and Sponsors

    We do not permit third-party companies to solicit, or advertise to our members. Our intention is to keep the Geekoterre Trailblazers Club free from any type of direct advertising.

  4. Security

    The security of members Personal Information is very important to us. We have in place the appropriate physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and help prevent unauthorised access, maintain data security and correctly use the information we collect online. All sensitive information, such as credit card details on the membership subscription form, is encrypted through secure socket layer technology, (SSL). No unauthorised personnel has access to Personal Information.

  5. Financial Information

    As noted in Section 1, when a person decides to become a Geekoterre Trailblazer, the parent’s full name, email address, credit card billing information and mailing address will be required at the time of purchase. Credit card information is not stored by the Geekoterre Trailblazers Club, but is collected and stored by our payments processing vendor for the purpose of processing payments made to the Geekoterre Trailblazers Club. All information is safeguarded with appropriate security and will not be used for any other purpose. Our payments processing vendor has agreed to maintain the confidentiality, security and integrity of all personal and financial information it obtains from the Geekoterre Trailblazers Club website, or any other Geekoterre site/s. Our financial institution is bound by all applicable privacy laws relating to the provision of financial services.

  6. Access to Personal Information and Any Objections to Collection and Retention

    If any parent wishes to gain access to the Personal Information we have on their child, to correct factual errors, or request to have the information deleted, they must use the Contact Us page.To protect you and your child’s privacy and security, we will all take reasonable steps to verify a parent/guardian’s identity before granting access to the Personal Information, or removal of that information.

  7. Effective Date

    The above Privacy Policy is effective as of January 2014 and applies to all information previously obtained by the Geekoterre Trailblazers Club, or YouMe Support Foundation. We reserve the right to change the Privacy Policy at our sole discretion. Geekoterre Trailblazers Club members will be informed of any change by us, or if a new Privacy Policy is posted on the Geekoterre site and the effective date of any change of the Privacy Policy will be clearly displayed. As required by law, we will not use Private Information in ways that are materially different from the ones described in this Privacy Policy, without also providing notification of such practices and obtaining consent to any such different uses.
